Glossary

Glossary for the Telangana caste census site

Definitions for the key terms used across the district, table, category, and caste pages.

SEEEPC Survey

The Social, Economic, Employment, Educational, Political and Caste survey released for Telangana and used as the source dataset for this site.

Table family

A grouped survey-table topic, such as household count or literacy, shown together across scopes like Total, Rural, or Urban.

Scope

The release context for a table variant. In this site the main scopes are Total, Rural, and Urban.

Machine-readable table

A published table that has been extracted into rows and columns so it can be searched, downloaded, and quoted more easily.

Caste-community row

A named caste or community entry taken from the caste-population release, with statewide and district distributions.

Official total

A statewide or district total taken directly from the published category tables, such as the official BC, SC, ST, or OC counts.

Named-row subtotal

A subtotal built by adding together only the named caste or community entries released in the data. It should not be assumed to equal an official category total.

Within-family share

The share a named caste or community contributes inside its broader family or subgroup, rather than in the whole state population.

District concentration

How strongly a caste-community entry or category appears in a given district relative to the statewide total or to the district category mix.

Source PDF

A reference PDF from the published Telangana survey volumes. Use the source PDF to verify page-level context before quoting figures publicly.
